Parade Information

It won’t be on TV like the Rose Parade or Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade but it may make the movies, who knows? And the producer of the movie being filmed during June in Magdalena has agreed to be our Judge!

The annual Frontier Day/ Fourth of July parade kicks off the festivities at 9 am, Saturday June 28th.

Line up/Registration is on Duggins Avenue at 8:30am.

There is no charge to be in the parade but pre registration would be appreciated. You may fill out an entry form at Village Hall or email your name and phone number to Info@magdalena-nm.com or text or call it in to Wini at 724-272-4285.

There will be two divisions this year that will be judged.

Since there will not be a Pretty Pet Parade this year, please bring your dressed up pet/ horse/ cow etc to compete for the 50 dollar prize for best entry (leave your pet rattlesnake at home please) in that division. Any floats, decorated trucks and equipment etc will complete in the general division and there is also a 50 dollar prize for the best entry. Come make this the best parade and show your patriotic colors!

Watching a Gunfight, or enjoying a Native Dance back in the Frontier Days of the 1880s might have been an easy thing to do here in Magdalena. If you listen to Richard Torres about the days of his childhood, it was pretty cheap entertainment to watch a fight spill out of the Silver Saloon into the streets of our little town. Seems funny (funny strange, not funny HaHa) that we had a State Game Commission before we were a State. Overhunting was a reality in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

To help the funding of the Frontier Festival, the Magdalena Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Rifle and Knife Raffle. Tickets can be found at TumbleWeeds, Sierra Propane, the Steer Stop, Winston’s and A&X Propane here in town. You can also find tickets with any of the Chamber of Commerce Officers and even the Mayor will be able to sell you a chance to win.
